Product Information

When Ellen Ehk Åkesson was asked to create something new to honor Ulrica as part of the tribute collection in 2021, she chose to use the same shape as Ulrica's "Fern" and with it create a vessel based on her own imagination. "I wanted to make something of my own, but which has a connection to Ulrica's art. For the tribute collection, I found inspiration in her directness of thought and style. I chose her white cylinder with a snake on the 'fern'. I have used the same shape, where the vessel may symbolize a tree trunk. Modeled mushrooms grow freely on it, ticks, hence the name "Ticka". - Ellen Ehk Åkesson

Tikka is a mouth-blown vessel with a driven edge. The glassblower cuts the hot glass and forms the edge by hand to create a smooth and round edge at the opening of the vessel. This makes each ship unique. Each tick is applied and shaped by hand, requiring the vessel to be heated each time a tick is to be attached. The ticks are hand painted.

Tikka, 2021, is produced in a signed edition of 100.
