Sunflower by Göran Wärff – is another Kosta Boda brand icon brought back to life! In an effort to make past masterpieces available to new audiences, Kosta Boda is excited to reissue select products from its comprehensive archive. Sunflower, a classic series of votives first introduced in 1974, bears all the hallmarks of Wärff’s artistry and Kosta Boda’s design DNA. 

Natural light as well as organic shapes as they appear in nature were two major sources of inspiration for Göran Wärff (1933–2022), and both come to the fore in Sunflower. Here is an opportunity for a new generation of Kosta Boda consumers to find this epic design outside of a vintage design store.

The reissued series includes votives in three different heights, one edition in clear glass and one in circular glass. The latter uses repurposed waste glass from the hot shop in Kosta. This waste glass is upcycled and re-used in circular production of new items providing each product with a unique color tone and look. Sunflower is made in a two-step cast production technique relying on gravity, skill and experience to combine flower and stem.
